Xtreme - Middle SchooL Ministry

Kids 5th through 8th Grade

Do your children need a place to grow in their understanding of God's love and His plans for their life? Our Xtreme Ministry gives your kids the opportunity to grow and show their faith in our Triune God. We encourage our youth to connect with their peers and adult mentors to nurture their Christian faith. They will study the Bible, talk about life, serve others and get connected through small groups.

Junior Confirmation

Junior Confirmation

Is the Bible really true? How do all the stories connect? How do I find answers? How do I come to know Jesus? Shepherd’s Jr. Confirmation program encourages and welcomes youth to ask questions and study what the Bible teaches.

  • 5th graders study the Old Testament in a small group setting. Students will study the Old Testament and discover how each Bible story points to their Lord and Savior, Jesus. The six chief parts of Luther’s Small Catechism are woven through each lesson. (Room LL3)
  • 6th graders study the New Testament in a small group setting. Students will study the life of Christ, the history of the early church, and the missionary journeys of Paul. The six chief parts of Luther’s Small Catechism are woven through each lesson. (Room LL5)

Junior Confirmation is Sunday mornings at 9:20 am in Room LL3 and LL5

Confirmation

Confirmation is for 7th & 8th grades to study the six main beliefs of the Christian faith from the Bible and explained in Luther's Small Catechism.

  • 7th & 8th Graders begin classes with group relationship building followed by the week’s lesson.
  • Parents attend class with their child the first Sunday of each month.
  • Bible Study and questions are given for families to use and study weekly and are required for following lessons.
  • 8th Graders receive first Communion during Holy Week’s Maundy Thursday Service.
  • Confirmation is on the last Sunday of October (Reformation Sunday) of their 9th grade year.

Confirmation begins Sunday mornings at 9:20 am in the Colonnades. The program runs year-round with summer sessions focused on relationship building.

Youth Missions

Missions encourage our  junior high and high school youth to serve our Lord through servant events and mission opportunities throughout the year. Youth get to participate in mission opportunities and experience them with their friends and family.

Every activity includes some servant project with a monthly off campus event to serve our community. Every other year, they have the opportunity to travel to the Navajo Nation with families from our church.

Upcoming Events:

Breakfast with Baby: Youth can help with our church-wide monthly mission of Breakfast with Baby. They can help by setting up, serving, helping parents with their children, and clean up.

Sandwich Sundays: (coming in Fall 2019) Our whole Shepherd community comes together to make sandwiches and lunches for some of Denver's homeless population. We deliver them to homeless in Civic Center Park in Downtown Denver.

Navajo Mission Trip: On the off years of the National Youth Gathering, our high school students are invited to serve the Navajo Nation by spending a week leading Vacation Bible School, a sports camp, and building relationships with the Navajo people. Our next trip will be July 23-27, 2020. Click here for more information.
