SHYP - Shepherd of the HIlls Young People

Are you a student in grades 9-12? Then SHYP is where you belong! We meet weekly for Bible Studies, relationship building, games, and small group discussion. 


Sunday Mornings:

We meet every Sunday morning at 9:30-10:30 am in the Youth Room located in the Youth building. Currently our morning Bible Study is going through the minor prophets and discussing how these books are still relevant to us today. 


Sunday Afternoons: 

From 4:00-6:00 pm we meet for games, food, and a Bible study picked by the students. Currently  we are studying Mormonism and how we can witness to them.

Upcoming Events and Missions

Breakfast with Baby - September 14 , 2019

Students in high school can serve our community every 2nd Saturday of the month at Breakfast with Baby. Families come to be served breakfast, hear the Word of God, and receive diapers, clothing, toys, etc for their babies 2 years old and younger. Students who serve will help set up, serve breakfast, play with the children while their parents shop, and build relationships with families from the community. 


Mountain Hike - September 14, 2019

Join SHYP for an afternoon hike in the mountains. Details to come soon.


Sandwich Sunday - September 15, 2019

Join us for this cross generation servant event where our whole Shepherd community comes together to make sandwiches and lunches for some of Denver's homeless population. We deliver them to the homeless in Civic Center Park in Downtown Denver. We will meet in the Parish Hall right after church.


Navajo Mission Trip - July 23-27, 2020

On the off years of the National Youth Gathering our high school students are invited to serve the Navajo Nation by spending a week leading Vacation Bible School, a sports camp, and building relationships with the Navajo people. Our next trip will be July 23-27, 2020. More information to come soon.

National Youth Gathering (NYG)

Shepherd high schoolers attended the National Youth Gathering in July. It was a moving and exciting event for the students and mentors. We learned that Jesus is very real and present in our lives.


NYG is held every 3 years since 1980. The LCMS Youth Gathering provides thousands of youth and adults the opportunity to come together as a community of God’s people to learn more about Jesus Christ, the Christian faith and their Lutheran identity. The last Gathering was held on July 11-15, 2019 in Minneapolis, MN.


During the five days of the Gathering, youth spent time together in God’s word, worship, service, and fellowship with others from across the synod. This event is organized by LCMS Youth Ministry in Saint Louis, MO.
